There are two Green Mark levels to work towards.
Level 1 is an introductory level, suitable for organisations who are starting to address their environmental performance.
Level 2 builds on this by supporting you to develop an Environmental Management System. This can help you progress towards ISO 14001 and other similar accreditations.
Each Green Mark level consists of a five-step process:
This short appraisal will be held onsite with your assigned Green Mark consultant, who will do a walk-around review to get a sense of the company’s operation and establish areas for environmental improvement.
Your consultant will send you a clear, straightforward set of guidelines outlining our recommendations for environmental improvements under Level 1 or 2. The Green Mark team will offer telephone and email support to you during this time.
When you are ready, the Green Mark consultant will conduct the final audit. This will last approximately half a day, during which the consultant will assess your progress against the Green Mark criteria.
Your consultant will send you a final report containing our findings. If all the criteria have been satisfied you will receive the Green Mark award certificate for Level 1 or 2, along with marketing materials.
Your Green Mark award is valid for one year, after which you can apply for reassessment. Organisations holding Level 1 certification will have the opportunity to progress to Level 2 or recertify at the same level.
